| Editor's
note: This letter
is our absolute favorite. It's clearly not complimentary,
however we decided to post it just for fun because
it's the first (and only) negative response we've
ever received regarding our service! The funny
thing is, this customer never even contacted us
to let us know they were having problems in the
first place! |
|
|
| |
Please remove me as a member.
I was very disappointed in the service. I downloaded
2 images I ordered and could not find them on my computer
for me to be able to use. The third image was never
available for me to download. This is NOT an inexpensive
service and I did not find it easy to use and I will not
be using it again or recommending it to any of my friends!

of the very
few perks to an incredibly frustrating day-

Very nice artwork- it was hard to choose...

Subject: Deco backgrounds, borders, corners
I am looking for corners, banners, backgrounds to complement my design for my website. I love your work!
I’m thinking a little more deco style than I find on your site.
Here’s my image and font (purchased) that I would like to incorporate into my website.

Do you have suggestions I may have missed on your page.

If you could reverse one of the images that would be greatly appreciated.
The jpeg worked fine and I've deleted the eps file.

Hello,
Thanks very much, it was the address problem. I used my college address rather
than my home address. I successfully downloaded the art, and I love it! Thanks.
Also, I noticed that you have an office in Bellingham. I am a Graphic Design major
at Western Washington University and I wanted to know if there were any internship-
type work opportunities at your company. If so, I would really be interested.
Thank you,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. If I see an opportunity to use retro graphics I'll go to your site first. Last year Budweiser tried a retro campaign with "Charlie" and brought back four old packages, one for each quarter. It was cool, but I don't think it was as popular as corporate had hoped. Tony
Am still laughing about that actually. Particularly as I didn't realise
you'd even contacted me 'til today so I got this one too! It's much better
to get a funny e-mail rather than the usual automatically generated stuff.
Or perhaps you are just an extremely advanced microchip somewhere that
someone with a sense of humour has programmed.
Anyway - nice (I think) to know you were watching my abortive attempts to
buy some fabulous clip art. Don't know why that wouldn't work - address was
as it is for billing and I used the card online the day before. I just
admitted defeat in the end and used my business card instead!
I think the art work on the site is great by the way. My partner and I love
all things vintage and usually look like we should be in the fifties. We
teach period dancing too. So I'll no doubt be back for other bits and bobs.
Yes I did manage to download the image in the end, thank you!
Thought I might see how the clever computer responds to that.

Hi Tony,
Thanks so much for answering and for being so understanding. Your website was really easy to use and I enjoyed working with you.
Please email the images to this email address in JPEG format. Thanks!
A friend of mine will be helping me to add cartoon bubbles to these as well as colorizing them. Is that pretty easy to do in Adobe photoshop or is there other software? Any hints you can give would be great. Thanks!
As always, I am honored to work with you.

Hi –
We design a children’s wear line and want to start adding screen printing to our line next season. How does this clip art thing work? Your retro art is fabulous!! Do we buy an image and then it is ours to sell on our t-shirts? To keep reprinting when we need to? This is the first time we are doing this, so please explain the format the clip art is in – EPS? We use a program called Photo Impact and usually all our photos are in JPG – is this still going to work?
Thanks for your time –
Sincerely,
Christine Horwath

Hi Tony,
Thanks for your concern! I went to the Shopping Cart and to "My Account" it
says that I have not made any purchases, even though I received a receipt.
The image that I purchased was "Cruisin' Couple." If you could email the eps
file to me, that would be great. And, since you graciously offered a free
image, I would like the "Couple with Cocktails."
Love your site -- and will use it often

Hi Tony, Maureen, whoever
Thank you so much!
I shall make my purchase as soon as I can.
I have to say, I wasn't holding out much hope for a fix - I was
expecting a 'oh, it's our payment provider's fault, sorry (but
tough...)' response... But I was wrong!
Thanks for fixing the problem so quickly. I have already recommended
your site to the guys in the office.
Maybe it's different in the States, but customer service this good -
especially online - is pretty rare in the UK.
Thanks again

Hi,
| |
We were reviewing our transaction record from last week and we noticed
that you had tried to purchase an image from RetroClipArt.com on
Friday. Your transaction was declined 3 times in a row.
This problem was caused by an internal error on our server which we
have since corrected. You may now proceed to purchase the image as
you had planned. |
thank you for the information - since it was quite frustrating seeing my
order(s) fail, I appreciate this note all the more!
| |
As a compensation for the inconvenience we have caused, you are now
entitled to one free image. After you have completed your purchase,
you can send us an email with the name of the free image you would
like, and we will forward it to you immediately. |
That's very kind, thank you! As I (successfully) repeated my recent order,
I'd also like to order "Woman's Bun Hairstyle" [1] in EPS format.
I must admit, I really do like "Retro Clip Art", and your mail as well as
the responsiveness don't do harm concerning this appreciation ;)
Ich danke :)
Best regards,
Jens Meiert. |

No problem. I like a lot of the family/chlld images you have already. I just started on the website, so it's not a rush. Unfortunately, I won't be purchasing the "women in the kitchen cooking" because I don't want my husband to get any ideas! I finally have him convinced that women don’t cook. Ha.
Thanks, great site and I'll be ordering soon. Katie

Hi Bob!!,
I have just discovered your wonderful website during my search for illustrations from the 1920s – 40s. Do you have many graphics from this era or is it primarily just the 1950s that your site specializes in? I am especially after women, men and couples.
Hope you can help or perhaps point me it the right direction!!
