All of the thumbnail images in our catalog are beautifully gift-wrapped for your viewing pleasure!
Naturally we would love to feature perfectly clear, high resolution samples throughout our catalog, but unfortunately, human nature being such as it is, most folks will simply choose to right click and download the thumbnail, rather than fork over $8.95 (more or less) for a vector EPS file or high res jpeg!
As you can imagine, we didn't spend tens
of thousands of dollars and countless hours of our time just
to provide free retro art to internet users! We're
not looking to make a lot of money either, but we would at
least like to break even (some day) for having gone to all
this effort to make the world's greatest retro advertising
artwork available to everyone.
It took a lot of trial and error for our art department to come up with this great watermark, however if you really need to remove it in order to create a comping image, then read on... |

CREATE COMPING IMAGES:
We have received a lot of inquiries recently from some quite irate customers asking if we can supply comping images . Well actually it's a cinch to make comping images from these thumbnails. It only takes about a minute. Here's how to do it:
| 1. |
Right-click, or drag one of our thumbnails to download it to your desktop. |
| 2. |
Open it up in Photoshop |
| 3. |
Go to Levels, and move the right-hand arrow to the left, until that input level reads approximately 150. This will make the background logo disappear. Click OK. |
| 4. |
With the Magic Wand tool, click on one of the squiggly turquoise lines which are on a white background. In the top menu bar, choose Select > Similar. Hit the Delete button. You'll see that a lot of those squiggly lines will disappear. |
| 5. |
Again with the Magic Wand tool, click on one of the squiggly turquoise lines which are over top of a black area. In the top menu bar, choose Select > Similar. Before you hit Delete, reverse your background/foreground colors in the left hand tool bar, so that black now appears as the background color. Hit Delete. This will eliminate most of the squiggly lines which are on top of black areas. |
| 6. |
Repeat this process with the remaining bits of the turquoise squiggly lines, as well as the orange squiggly lines until most of them are gone |
| 7. |
Change your Image Mode to Grayscale. Using your brush tool, fill in any remaining squiggly lines with black. Remember, this doesn't have to be perfect. It's just a comp image! |

So there you have it. A lovely comping image made directly from our thumbnail. Any clearer than that, and we might as well just give you the master art for free.
This is certainly clear enough for comping any layout.
Keep in mind that you'll probably want to increase the image resolution to 300 dpi if you plan on using this comp image in a Quark or InDesign document, otherwise it will show up very teeny. |
Don't forget, you can always obtain an EPS vector
master file, or a high resolution jpeg of any of these images
by simply purchasing them through our Secure
Online Shopping Cart! Your support will help
us to complete the processing of thousands of fantastic retro
images we still have sitting in our archives.
